As we watch executive orders and an administration-proposed budget that slash support for scientific research, public health, international aid, and support for the health of low-income Americans, and measure after measure targeting the health and well-being of so many populations, from immigrants to transgender people, many of us feel frustrated and powerless. But action is truly the antidote to despair, and together we can take effective action. Here are some ways we can raise our collective voices in defense of the patients we care for:

Say YES!

Say yes if opportunities arise to speak to local reporters or media outlets or to groups of people about these issues and think about the kinds of arguments and stories that may speak to people across political divides.

Talking points on Medicaid cuts

Slashing the Medicaid program means cutting the program that covers 40% of US children and 60% of nursing home residents. Along with the moral and human rights implications of leaving so many of our nation’s children and elders without health insurance, this dramatic cut to our safety net would be devastating for our hospitals, including our already-overcrowded Emergency Departments, our nursing homes, and would put us all at risk, regardless of our income or health insurance status.
