Autumn 2025 Talking Point: Changes to SNAP
On Friday, October 17th, the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services (DHS) issued an official statement informing SNAP recipients that November benefits will not be paid until the federal government shutdown ends and / or funds are released to Pennsylvania.
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) helps people in eligible, low-income households obtain more nutritious foods. In 2024, 1 in 8 Americans used SNAP to to feed their families.
Summer 2025 Talking Point: Medicaid Cuts
Cutting Medicaid program directly effects 40% of US children and 60% of nursing home residents. These changes will have significant implications for US nursing homes and hospitals, particularly the already-overcrowded Emergency Departments. This strain puts risk on everybody, regardless of income or health insurance status.
